Services At The Delray Center For Brain Science
DCBS offers TMS for treatment-resistant depression and other psychiatric conditions; EEG scans for tracking treatment outcomes; neurofeedback for attention and relaxation training; and Neurocognitive training to improve processing speed, decision making, and inhibitory control.

0:00Hi, my name is Dr. Emily Ahn, and I'm the director at the Brain Science Department at the Delray Center for Healing.
0:05Today, I want to talk about some of the services that we offer at the Brain Science Department.
0:10Specifically, our main service is going to be transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS for short.
0:15This treatment we offer to clients specifically with treatment-resistant depression, as it is an alternative method for treating depression.
0:23So if you've been on a long list of
0:28antidepressants for a long time, cognitive behavioral therapy may not be helping. TMS is a good alternative for when other treatments are no longer working.
0:35So that's our main
0:37treatment source. We also offer TMS for things like obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as generalized anxiety disorder, and substance abuse disorder.
0:46We also offer
0:48quantitative EEGs, or electroencephalogram.
0:51These are measurements of electrical activity in the scalp, and these are used to track treatment progress over time.
0:58We start with a baseline measure of the QEEG,
1:01and then we have follow-up scans as the client is partaking in a particular type of treatment course,
1:06mostly TMS. And these outcomes are really helpful because they can not only validate a client's feeling
1:13when they come in to do the scan, you know, because we can see markers of depression or anxiety in their brain,
1:18but then it's a good way to track outcomes over time that are separate from our subjective feelings.
1:24So maybe if you feel like you're not getting better, we can see changes in the EEG scan, and that's very
1:30comforting to a lot of our clients.
1:32We've also offered neurofeedback, which is a relaxation and attention training that also uses the same mechanics of the QEEG.
1:40We're replacing electrodes on the head, and we're measuring the brain activity while you're engaging with something on the computer.
1:46Specifically, the neurofeedback is training
1:49relaxation in the parietal lobe of the brain,
1:52which typically is overactive in individuals with attention deficit disorder or generalized anxiety disorder.
1:59And lastly, we've developed a neurocognitive training program here at the Delray Center for Brain Science that focuses on
2:06cognitive training, so brain gains, and
2:09implements things like reaction time, short-term memory, our inhibitory function,
2:13so all of those executive functions that I've mentioned in previous videos.
2:17So we're looking to train those in individuals with depression or attention disorders, and
2:23the neurocognitive unit is really interesting because it can be used across the lifespan.
2:27So we have individuals as young as 18 partaking in our cognitive training, as well as individuals up into their 80s.
2:34So it really is kind of an expansive program.
2:38So again, at the Delray Center for Brain Science, we offer TMS for treatment-resistant depression, as well as other conditions.
2:44We offer QEEGs that can help track treatment outcomes over time,
2:50neurofeedback for attention and relaxation training, as well as that neurocognitive training for impacting our cognitive function overall.
